The Ancestors and Descendants
of James Marion White
and Lucy Ann Holt
by
Pat Goad White
Willis Cox Holt's military service for the CSA
is covered on my Civil
War Ancestors page.
His exact unit was the 10th Georgia Volunteer
Infantry Regiment. They were part of the Semmes Brigade, Longstreet's
1st Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, ultimately under the command of Gen.
Robert E. Lee, for most of the war.
The Chattahoochee (see misspelling above) County
Courthouse that existed in Willis Cox Holt's time has been moved to "Westville"
near Lumpkin, Georgia, in Stewart County. This is a small village
of 1850's era buildings established to preserve the heritage of Georgia
in those times.
