Descendants of James Hill Casey

The search for the parentage of James Hill Casey (1813-1901) continues.  See the current Casey Page to view the Jas. Hill Casey Memoriam Document.  This document would put James Hill Casey in Wayne Co., Tennessee by 1820, and the only two Casey families there that were recorded were headed by an Abner Casey, and only ONE had a male child of the right age to be our JHC.  However, census records, especially that early, cannot be reliably used to say another family was not there, as some were simply uncounted.  However, I am leaning toward this Abner Casey as being the parent of my Jas. Hill Casey as of now.  In the Fall of 2003, I am traveling to South Carolina to do some genealogy research, and perhaps will come up with more data.  Anyone who has been to SC on this same journey, please Email me with any hints or tips.

   died June 16, 1901 in Young Co., Texas².  He married JANE TURNBO* March 15, 1832 in
   Wayne Co., TN³, daughter of HUGH TURNBO and MARY POWELL.  She was born
   November 30, 1815 in Wayne Co., TN⁴, and died March 11, 1904 in Farmer, Young Co.,
   TX⁵.  (*Turnbo is also sometimes spelled Turnbow or Turnbough).

    i. JAMES CAROLL³ CASEY, b. October 24, 1832; d. March 09, 1834⁶.

   TN⁷, and died November 12, 1925 in San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas⁸.  He married MARY
   WINKLE HOYLE December 15, 1853 in Williamson Co., TX⁹, daughter of JACOB
   HOYLE and LEAH ROBINSON.  She was born October 16, 1834 in TN¹⁰, and died
   September 06, 1886 in Williamson Co., TX¹¹.

   Child of HUGH CASEY and MARY HOYLE is:
   9. i. WILLIAM FLETCHER⁴ CASEY, b. 1856, Williamson Co., TX; d. November 05,
   1929, San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas.

   3.  WILLIS³ CASEY (JAMES HILL², IRA¹) was born January 13, 1836 in Wayne Co.,
   TN, and died November 16, 1895 in Florence, Williamson Co., TX¹².  He married SAMUEL
   ISABELL HARRIS September 04, 1856 in Bell Co., Texas¹².  She was born March 20,
   1838, and died January 13, 1925 in Winters, Runnels Co., Texas¹².

   TN¹³, and died July 18, 1866¹⁴.  He married CATHERINE HIGGINS September 03, 1857
   in Williamson Co., TX.¹⁵  She was born 1840¹⁶.

   MARY A.J. SANDERS September 19, 1858 in Bell Co., TX¹⁶.    He married (2) EDNA O.
   QUEEN Abt. 1866, daughter of SAMUEL QUEEN and JANE PETTY.  She was born 1844
   in Arkansas, and died 1934 in Young Co., Texas¹⁷.

   1908 in Comanche Co., Texas.  She married (1) ALBERT JOHNSON MILLER January 03,
   1883 in Bell Co., Texas³³, son of WILLIAM MILLER and NANCY.  He was born January
   14, 1861 in Alabama, and died December 29, 1887 in Comanche Co., Texas³⁴.  She married
   (2) TOM C. PATTERSON May 07, 1890 in Bell Co., Texas³⁵.  He was born Abt. 1857 in
   Alabama³⁶, and died Abt. 1899 in Texas.  She married (3) ***LEROY N. STELL Aft. 1902 in
   Poss. Comanche Co., Texas³⁷.

My father is David Houston Casey of Hamlin, Texas (born in Florence, Williamson Co., Texas), who is the son of the now deceased Overton Harris (O.H., or "Harris") Casey (1893-1986, died Hamlin, TX, buried in Winters, Runnels Co., TX).  O.H. Casey was the son of James Hill Casey "II".  James Hill Casey II (the second in my line with this name) was the son of Willis Casey b. 1836.  Willis Casey was the son of James Hill Casey I who was born in 1813 (please see the text above for details.)

I am an amateur genealogist and an obviously amateur webpage creator.  This is a hobby.  I have many
hobbies, and sometimes get engrossed with other things leaving genealogy on the back burner for months at a time...then will become engrossed again in family history and create a flurry of activity, so keep this page bookmarked!  I am also interested in world history, natural history, language, Spain, sports, the outdoors, photography, and many other things...
